Canadian Foodgrains Bank member Christian Reformed World Relief Committee Canada (CRWRC) is working in South Sudan to increase food security.
Many of the people involved in the Yei River County project are recent returnees to the area. More than two decades of civil war and conflict caused many people to be displaced. After the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in 2005 people began returning home.
CRWRC is supporting communities through agricultural training, seed distributions, cost-sharing for tools, and agricultural radio programs.
After being away for years, and in some cases their entire lives, returnees often have little capitol to purchase inputs for their farms and many have not been cultivating land for many years.
