Mennonite Central Committee Canada is supporting Rehabilitation, Education and Community Health (REACH) with the second year of a two year project that will support the development of household food and income production capacity for 11,732 beneficiaries in 45 drought affected villages in Northern Iraq. The project will address potential areas of vulnerability to food insecurity such as unstable weather patterns, unsecure income sources, civil conflict, and fluctuating food and gas prices through the implementation of various activities at the household and community level. These activities will increase the long-term food security of households by improving their household income base, increasing the quality and diversity of foods produced locally, contributing to strong community development, and decreasing possible sources of conflict.
