Mennonite Central Committee Canada will continue supporting ADRA Sudan in the Geisan locality of Sudan’s south eastern Blue Nile State with the first year of a three year food security program. This project is aimed at reducing food security in the region through a seasonal safety net of school feeding, food for work, and community organization for improved agricultural practices and diversified household income. The expected numbers of beneficiaries include 8,000 school age children and 3,280 households (approximately 23,000 individuals). The project will utilize 417 tonnes of sorghum, 38 tonnes of beans, 26 tonnes of oil, 8 tonnes of salt and 10 tonnes of sugar.
