“It was a great community day, thanks to everyone who volunteered,” says Myers. “It was a great way to raise awareness about the needs of people who are hungry around the world.”
The Spring Planting Day was sponsored by Zion Presbyterian Church, Shaw Family Meats, MCM Bricklayers, Montague Bakery, Cardigan Feed Mill, Pioneer Seeds and Phillips Seeds, with support from Lorne Valley Community volunteers.
The day featured local entertainment and plowing of the Lorne Valley growing project’s two fields by the Draft Horses Association and the PEI Antique Equipment Club.
