Farming for the Future:A Guide to Conservation Agriculture in Zimbabwe
Farming must change to feed the world, and conservation agriculture is widely promoted as the farming system which will significantly contribute to this end. Conservation agriculture is a farming system that does away with regular plowing and tillage and promotes permanent soil cover (mulches) and diversified crop rotations to ensure optimal soil health and productivity. Most importantly is that this farming system has had remarkable results in Zimbabwe and other countries where farmers have doubled and sometimes tripled yields compared to those farmers not practicing conservation agriculture.
This practical and well designed manual was produced by the Zimbabwe Conservation Agriculture Task Force with financial support from Christian Aid and FAO Zimbabwe.
