Canadian Baptist Ministries
Connection to Canadian Foodgrains Bank
When you give, your contribution can be credited to the Canadian Baptist Ministries account. Canadian Baptist Ministries decides how those funds, and any CIDA matching funds, will be used.
Canadian Baptist Ministries receives requests for food from its overseas partners. Each request is reviewed to ensure the food and support provided will improve the lives of the people receiving the assistance - in both the short and long terms.
Once planning is complete (including details to ensure safe and reliable delivery), Canadian Foodgrains Bank arranges the purchase and shipping of the food. Canadian Baptist Ministries often works together with other Foodgrains Bank church members on shipments.
Canadian Baptist Ministries has been a member of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank since 1983.
History
Canadian Baptist Ministries is a federation of Conventions and Unions across Canada serving the churches of The Baptist Union of Western Canada, The Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, l'Union d'Eglises Baptistes Francaises au Canada, and The Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches.
Baptists emerged historically out of a desire to follow New Testament teaching. Every area in the believer's life and the life of the church is to be subject to the Lord.
Baptists believe that hope for the individual, the nation, and the world is found in Jesus Christ and in a personal relationship with Him. They share many beliefs in common with other Christians including belief in one God, the human and divine nature of Jesus Christ, and the significance of his crucifixion and resurrection for salvation.
Canadian Baptist Ministries consists of more than 120,000 baptized members working together through 1,150 local churches across Canada. For more information, visit the website www.cbmin.org.
